Emergency Medical Technicians

Provide transport and Basic Life Support care in the Prehospital setting to include wheelchair and stretcher van transports and ambulance transports of non-emergency or emergency patients. The technical skills of an EMT are necessary to provide patient assessment and care at the Basic Life Support level to patients of all age groups.

Qualifications, Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Driver’s License required. Certification in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required. Certification of completion of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) required within 90 days of hire. AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Driver’s License
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator with EMSVO within 90 days
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Paramedic

Perform advanced level assessment of the patient’s condition, determine the appropriate course of treatment, and administer basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital and in a pre-hospital setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. Function in complex emergency situations, most often as a single advanced life support provider.

Qualifications, Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Certified Paramedic in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.

  • Nationally Registered Paramedic (or obtained within 1 year)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Driver’s License
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator with EMSVO within 90 days
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
